According to Pino and others (2001), the unique flavor of compounds present and not attributable to one or a few individual components. The presence of essential oil is fundamental for the organoleptic properties of fruits; therefore, these compounds are widely used in the food industry. Furthermore, they can be used in various branches of other industries such as in perfumery. Because of their pharmacological properties, the oils and their isolated compounds are used in the pharmaceutical industry (Henriques and other 2009). Previous studies reported various biological activities for the constituents identified in the strawberry guava essential oil. For the major component, β-caryophyllene, antiinflammatory ( Bakir and others 2008), and local anesthetic activities have been observed (Ghelardini and others 2001). The volatile oils, however, can also present a synergistic activity due to the interaction among the constituents.
