Graphic Designer, Packaging
Job description
The purpose of the Graphic Designer (GD), is to deliver graphic design activities in support the I&D team’s customer streams, projects and objectives. The GD is accountable for the creation, development and execution of packaging design and communication solutions including - idea development and visual articulation, communication design and the understanding of FMCG packaging design and application. Establishing new design layouts and transferring designs from one format to another, demonstrating and building Brand Equity for the customer will be critical to this role.
ACCOUNTABILITIES
· Deliver the graphic design application & development. Lead the Graphic Design activities of I&D projects and objectives
· Art direction of Designated Projects & Activities
· Design Project Management
· Reporting & Updating Projects & Activities
· Junior Graphic Design Mentoring (Freelancers)
· Responsible for the appropriate handling of equipment, processes and safety measures.
Desired Skills and Experience
· Supply & Present a Comprehensive Portfolio of Work & Experience
· At least 3 to 5 years experience in commercial graphic design, specialising in FMCG &/or CPG
· Demonstrated ability to problem solve
· Exceptional understanding Adobe CS6 Package or current version (Graphic)
· Aptitude to develop methods and apply to the construction of Mock Ups and Prototypes as part of the design development process.
· Brand experience & knowledge
· Strong strategically led design skills.
· Proven ability in effective & efficient Project Management
· International agency experience (beneficial)
· Art Direction of Projects
· Good understanding of production processes. e.g. print production.
· Creation & Development of Typography & Commercial Application
· Full Colour Management and Application
· Understanding of the Application of Graphic Design in Packaging / FMCG Projects
· Customer Relationship Development – Project Briefing Leadership
· Drawing Skills (preferred) (THIS IS NOT USUAL IN GRAPHIC DESIGN)
· Demonstrated ability to manage projects, time and resources
· Self motivated, self managed and shows initiative and enthusiasm
· Ability to listen and communicate with a range of groups and customers
· Language Skills: Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general, technical journals, procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write and create reports and procedure manuals
· Fluent in written and spoken English is preferred
