The story features the little tramp,chaplin's famous character, who is trying to survive in the modern industrialized world. The film shows the little tramp working in a factory on an assembly line that never seems to stop.A feeding machine gives him food while he continues tightening the bolts on a moving belt. The little tramp can't stand the monotony-doing the same thing over and over-and suffers a mental breakdown. He's taken to the hospital,and soon recovers. But he can't avoid getting into trouble again.
