Additionally, it can be easily noticed that microbial kinetics
are highly dependent on the type of microorganisms: yeasts
and molds (Fig. 2(c)) were inactivated faster than mesophilic
and lactic acid bacteria (Fig. 2(a) and (b)). Similar considerations
were often reported in other research studies, although
comparisons are always difficult since different equipments, treatment
media, strains, and test conditions are used; in general,
Gram-positive bacteria are expected to be more resistant than
Gram-negative due to the composition of their thicker cell wall
[7,35].
