The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) confirmed that the British company has just a few more requirements but should be operating in Peru before the end of the first quarter of 2016, according to Gestion.
The company will finish signing contracts before the end of the year as a Virtual Mobile Operator (OMV).
MTC head José Gallardo Ku, made the announcement today stating, Virgin Mobile will be the fifth mobile operator in Peru.
“Virgin Mobile is the fifth mobile concession. It’s been a few days that they were given the concession,” said Gallardo according to Gestion.
After signing the contract, the company has a few more steps to take including signing a contract with one of the major operators already working in the country (Telefónica, Claro, Entel y Bitel), among other procedures.
Virgin Mobile is already operating in countries including Mexico, Brazil, and Chile—the Pacific Alliance countries. Gallardo emphasized that this has given strength to the telecommunications market in the region.
