would like to apply for the position of administrative assistant to the editor of your company magazine, Endicott Outes. This vacancy was called to my attention by Professor H.C. Callans of Tremont College. Professor Callans believes that my qualifications are suitable for this position.
My college training, I think, provides an excellent foundation for the position. I have always been interested in writing, and you will see from my resume that I have concentrated heavily on English and Journalism. I have held editorial positions in both high school and college. During my sophomore year I studied shorthand and typewriting; I have continued to use these skills in my college work.
As an administrative assistant to your editor, I would welcome the opportunity to assist in an editorial capacity as well as to use my secretarial skills. I have had experience in proofreading and in layout. My secretarial skills are well above average, and I find it easy to work with others.
Although I certainly do not know all the answers, you will find me eager to learn. I am happiest when I am busy!
If you wish to telephone me about an interview, you can reach me at Tremont College (555-8000, Extension 338) any weekday. My last class is over at 3 p.m., and I could arrange to come to your office after that time.
