Cross-cultural issues. At the time of his 2007 review, Tepper noted that very little
research on abusive supervision had taken place outside of the United States. In addition to his
observation that cultural factors such as power distance and masculinity might influence
reactions to abusive supervision, he argued that the equivalence of commonly used measures of
abuse should be tested across cultures. Our review suggests that there has been some progress on
the former issue but little on the latter.
