The Ubosot there are the Emerald Buddha and special Buddha images the Phra Phutta Yodfa Chulakok and the Phra Phutta Loetla Napalai Buddha images are situated to the right and left of the throne of the Emerald Buddha. They are dedicated to King Rama I and King Rama II respectively. All the Buddha images are sheltered under tiered umbrellas symbolizing royalty.
The Emerald Buddha “Phra Kaew Morakot”
Dated back to 15th century AD, A jade Buddha image was carved somewhere in Asia, yet firstly discovered staying in Lanna Kingdom (Chiang Rai) and Siamese called him Phra Kaew, before he was travelling whether in northern areas and between Siam and Lan Chang (Laos, then was one of Siam’s colonies), finally King Taksin (Phra Jao Tak) brought the Buddha image to Wat Arun and stayed there till the end of his throne, the King Rama I invited him to Wat Phra Kaew.
The beauty of the jade made his name the Emerald Buddha or Phra Kaew Morakot (emerald). The Buddha image is highlighted by the ceremony of seasonal costumes taken every four months.
