organic Hg species in the presence of different reductants. Selective
reduction does not permit the speciation of the different organic species,
but can differentiate alkylmercury compounds from inorganic mercury.
Methyl-, ethyl- and phenyl-mercury are the most commonly reported
organomercurials in marine biological samples. Of these, methylmercury
is predominant and the most toxic organic species in biological
samples [4,9].
