company to have every possible resource available to do all of the tasks its personnel
are expected to perform.
Test equipment and specialized tools that need calibration are examples of
resources that are always in short supply. They cost a lot of money, so only one or two
pieces of test equipment or specialized tools are purchased. They may not be available
at all if they are out for calibration or repair. Companies must be prepared for this
eventuality and know where to borrow or rent special items when theirs are not
