The intercala ted structure of the different rubber composites
and as well as the partial exfoliation of the different organoclay
in the XSBR matrix were observed from the WAXD patterns and
the HR-TEM images of the nanocompo sites. Incorporatio n of differ-
ent compatibilizer /organoclay composites (XC1, XC2 and XC3) in
the presence of CB into the E-SBR matrix showed partial exfoliation
of organoclay in E-SBR matrix. DMTA results showed a drastic
improvement in the storage modulus, decrease in tan dvalue and
the increase in the glass transition temperature for the different
organoclay loaded nanocompo sites in the presence of CB compared
to the pure one. The overall mechanical properties were enhanced
for the organoclay loaded nanocomposites . Cloisite 30B containing
E-SBR nanocomposite showed better cure characteristics, mechan-
ical, dynamic mechanical, abrasion resistance and thermal proper-
ties than the other two organoclay (Cloisite 20A and Cloisite 15A)
loaded compounds due to its better dispersion in the E-SBR matrix
in the presence of XSBR and the more polar nature of its organic
modifier than the modifiers of the other two organically modified
clays
