Mining Cables and Ship Wiring Cables
Most of these cables are made with synthetic rubber–based materials designed to handle very tough conditions, e.g., winding or unwinding, abrasion, cut resistance, low temperatures, high flexibility, and other harsh environmental factors. In Australia there are designs for above- ground and underground cables, although some designs could be used for both applications. Interesting developments overseas include shipboard wiring cables that can withstand temperatures of −50°C, for ships that venture along routes close to the North pole, which have become navigable in recent years.
