could be that the uraniumlevel becametoo toxic. The other explanation
may be that high sorption on damaged tissues occurred. The acetic acid
increased the uranium uptake 3 times. Laroche et al. (2005) found
decrease of uraniumcontent in the roots, stems and leaves of Phaseolus
vulgaris at elevated pH. But they also found an increase of the uranium
transfer factor, which reflected the fact, that uranium uptake is not
associated only with uranyl ion, but also with other uranium species.
On the other hand, Ebbs et al. (1998) presented a decrease of uranium
transport to pea shoots of (cv. Sparkle)with a higher pHvalue. Uranium
uptake by Helianthus annuus increased with pH values but in case of
B. juncea opposite trend was found (Vera Tomé et al., 2009).
