A student on this path is expected to embrace three statements:
(1) Be introduced to one’s own true nature
(2) Have no reservations about entering this state of mind
(3) Remain in this state of being
Overall, the student of Dzogchen is expected to pass through three phases, leading to ultimate liberation:
(1) Preliminaries on impermanence and renunciation of the samsaric existence (= Theravada stage)
(2) Preliminaries on compassion and ability to put this into action (= Mahayana stage)
(3) The “supreme” or deity generation phase = (guru yoga, or Tantra)
