Poste Italiane, with an established reputation as an innovative and strong competitor, announced in early 2007, its intention to begin selling mobile phone services as a mobile virtual network operator MVNO under the name “PosteMobile”.
With this service, Poste Italiane planned to extend the number of distinctive services it could make available by leveraging the company’s wider service portfolio and by making mobile financial service capabilities available to customers with bank accounts at other financial institutions.
