Hot flue gas from the multi-clones are ducted to a high efficiency atomized spray quench. In the quench, fine
droplets are generated creating a relative droplet-particle motion resulting in saturation of the gas and removal of
the vast majority of coarse particles from the flue gas stream. The dirty quench water is collected in the sump of
the scrubber and recycled through the quench pump set with addition of water draining from later stages
(countercurrent washing). The amount of water used for the quench is approximately 5-7 times the theoretical
amount for cooling
