3.2. Comparison between species
We compared plant characters relevant to the competitive ability
of the three species during the establishment of shoot fragments.
The plant characters most directly affecting the competitive ability
were RGR, main stem length, number of branches, lateral spread
and branching degree (Fig. 2). The characters were tested between
species within high and low light conditions separately (bars within
