The two years of field sampling and analysis of municipal solid waste in Gaza strip reveal the composition of solid waste in thia part of the world.
The study reveals some differnces with other studies in West Bank and Israel. Overall the study indicated that the average composition of municipal solid waste in west bank, Israel and Gaza Strip ranging between 42 to 60% organics, plastics between 13 to 25% and paper is about 11 to 25% It is also clear that about 12 to 18% of waste classified as others mainly sand.
As there are no previous studies in the last decade about municipal solid waste composition in the Gaza Strip, these results should be taken as a baseline for the entire area
