It is noticeable that light avoidance markedly reduced AsA accumulation in the flavedo of fruits of the four Citrus genotypes analyzed (Figs. 2 and 5). This negative effect of shading on AsA accumulation have been described in other fruits such as apple peel [31,35], grape berries [43], kiwifruit [30] and tomato [29,32]. Our results indicate that the impact of fruit shading in the drop of AsA accumulation was different for each Citrus genotype; a more pronounced reduction in orange was followed by mandarins (Sat- suma and Clementine) and a moderated response was detected in grapefruit (Figs. 2 and 5).
