As expected, allelic diversity was significantly higher in the relatively unperturbed Strzelecki Ranges (A = 4.7 ± 1.1) compared to the Eyre Peninsula (A = 1.7 ± 0.2) and Kangaroo Is. populations (A = 2.0 ± 0.3) (P < 0.05) (Table 1). There was no significant difference in allelic diversity between the Mt Lofty Ranges population (A = 2.7 ± 0.5) and any other population (P > 0.05) (Table 1). Levels of observed heterozygosity (HO ) and expected (HE) heterozygosity were also compared (Table 1). Although HE in the Strzelecki Ranges (HE = 0.476 ± 0.116) was more than twice that found in the Eyre Peninsula population (HE = 0.208 ± 0.088) (Table 1), neither HE nor HO was significantly different between populations (P > 0.05).
