Rameses II, son of Seti I, reigned in the 19th Dynasty for 67 years. Rameses was fighting in Syria in a series of campaigns against the Hittites and their allies for 20 years. The second campaign divided army into four sections, The deceitful city of Kadesh nearly cost him his life but at the end of the war they was obliged to make a treaty that said Egypt and Hittite were not invade each other. Rameses spent the rest of his life bolstering his image with huge building projects. The greatest works were the rock-hewn temple of Abu Simbel dedicated to Amun, Ra-Harmachis, and Ptah that are divisions in 2th campaign and the four colossal statues of the king in front of it completed the hall of columns at Karnak that still the largest columned room of any building in the world.
