The minimum depth counted as a dive was set at 1.5 m to
allow for (a) the TDR sensor resolution depth 40 cm; (b) the location of the TDR tags
on the tailstock which is commonly higher than the rest of the body, particularly while
the dugong is feeding (Anderson, 1998); (c) fluctuations in the position of the tail as the
dugong moves; and (d) drift in the zero depth reading and possible influences of wave
action.
