Surfactants AOT, DBS-Ca and alkylamines Primene 81-R with shorter alkyl chain and Primene JM-T with longer alkyl chain more hydrophobic decrease the interfacial tension of gasoline/water interface. The effect depends both on hydrophilic additives, type of surfactant and their concentrations. The shape of interfacial tension isotherms supports
the formation of reversed micelles in systems containing AOT and DBS-Ca. Alkylamines do not undergo micellar association.
