Lovely Krakow
Krakow is a beautiful city in the southern part of Poland. In the centre of Krakow is the old town, which the surrounded by a park called the planty. In the middle is rynek glowny, the main market square. Most of the city’s central area is a pedestrian zone.
many of the important buildings are in the old town, including the jagellonian university, st mary’s basilica in the main square and st florian’s gate. Outside the city walls, and just to the south by the river, is the royal castle called wawel.
Public transport is based on a network of trams and bus lines which run between 5 a.m. and 11 p.m. local trains connect some of the suburbs of the city centre. Tickets are available from newspaper kiosks and ticket machines at stops, or you can buy them from the driver.
Krakow’s airport is 11 km west of the city. Direct trains run between Krakow glowny train station and the airport. The journey takes about 15 minutes. The city centre is about a 20 minutes walk south-west of the station.
The polish currency is the zloty. there’s a cash point and a currency exchange office in the main train station building, and you can also find them around town. The city is full of interesting places to shop – a covered market, shopping mall, and a wide variety of shops and stores, including bookstores and art galleries. The most interesting of these is cloth hall or sukiennice, which is said to be the first shopping mall in the world.
