For many aspects of safety and health, either pertinent information does not exist or organizations are unwilling to gather or provide it. From a legal as well as humane viewpoint, it is in the best interests of organizations to seek and provide more information so that more effective strategies for improving safety and health can be developed and implemented. Failure to do so may result in costly legal settlements against organizations or further governmental regulation of workplace safety and health.
