Non-permanently employed nurses (P = 0.023–
0.001) felt that nurse managers used the units evaluation
knowledge to develop work, motivating others to
develop the units work based on that knowledge, and
instructing others to evaluate work outcomes
(P = 0.020). The practical nurses appreciated mostly
the nurse managers instructing (P = 0.000). These
nurses (P = 0.016–0.004), and non-permanently employed
staff (P = 0.050–0.029), perceived that their
nurse manager creates challenging goals for work and
ensures a high quality of care. The nurse managers
goal-orientation and guidance to work efficiently were
most positively evaluated by the staff under 30 years
old (P = 0.018–0.005). Non-permanently employed
staff (P = 0.015) and staff under 30 years (P = 0.047)
best evaluated that their nurse manager boldly shares
views and opinions in multiprofessional cooperation.
That the nurse managers decisions are based on upto-
date knowledge got the best evaluations from the
non-permanent employed nurses (P = 0.021). Staff in
non-permanent positions (P = 0.016) perceived that the
nurse manager was logical with work-related decisions.
