We may conclude for boys and girls between 11 and 15 years, that there is a significant association between family type and alcohol consumption (hypothesis 1a is supported).
Girls in single parent families and boys in stepfamilies are drinking more often than their counterparts in intact families. This is contrary to hypothesis 1b.
For both boys and girls, the effects are quite robust and persist after including other variables into the model. The parent–child relationship was not associated with alcohol consumption,
so we cannot confirm hypothesis 2a. No strong support is found for the association between parental
conflict and alcohol consumption (hypothesis 3a).
