In this paper, we demonstrate a cyan laser with Yb:YCOB laser crystal and KTP nonlinear crystal. Yb:YCOB crystal can be grown by the Czochralski method, which has good mechanical, spectroscopic and nonlinear properties. Although the diode-pumped continuous wave [6] and [7], passively Q-switched [8] and mode-locked [6], [9], [10] and [11] Yb:YCOB lasers have been intensively demonstrated in recent years, no SFM Yb:YCOB laser was reported to now. The KTP crystal is cut in type II phase matching direction in the XY plane (θ=90°, φ=49.9°) for the SFM of 974 and 1042 nm. Because it is a mixing of the pump wave and the fundamental wave, the laser cavity could be very simple and short. During the experiment, both the single wavelength (503 nm) and the dual-wavelength (505 nm, 525 nm) cyan lasers are obtained. The mechanism of the dual-wavelength laser is discussed. The output cyan laser is at 10 mW level and the laser beam quality M2 factors are measured to be 1.51 and 1.64 in the horizontal and vertical directions, respectively.
