The effect of forage source and supplementary HMBi
on N balance is presented in Table 4. Nitrogen intake
ranged from 0.42 kg/d to 0.46 kg/d and was higher
for animals offered CS-based diets (P = 0.05) than
for those offered GS-based diets. Nitrogen intake was
greater for animals offered C− than animals offered
G− (P = 0.02) and G+ (P < 0.01). Feed N intake for
animals offered C+ was not different (P > 0.05) from
that for animals offered other treatments. The supply
of PDI was also greater in animals offered CS-based
diets (P = 0.03) when compared with those offered GSbased
diets.
