The Ministry of Tourism and Sports and the Tourism Authority of Thailand(TAT) have assured foreign visitors that Thais remain as hospitable as ever during this time of mourning while cultural attractions and tourism facilities are open for business and planned events are going ahead.
Furthermore, most meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibition events will go ahead with some adjustments for appropriateness, the agencies said.
Otherwise, it is business as usual with the mourning period having no impact on travel plans and tours, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, Minister of Tourism and Sports, said.
As part of the strategy to get this message out, Kobkarn welcomed ambassadors and diplomats from 34 countries as well as representatives from 10 chambers of commerce to an afternoon tea with her.
The move aims to spread the word that "life goes on" in Thailand and that visitors will be welcomed with open arms and all events and festivals are going ahead.
These events include the Air Race One flying test event on November 19-20, the Laguna Phuket Triathlon on November 20, the Thailand Equestrian Princess's Cup from November 25-27 and the Jet SkiKing's Cup on December 3-4.
