The study of “Spatial Pattern of Potato Production Process in Chiang Mai – Lamphun Province” has 3 objectives 1) to study Spatial Pattern of Potato Production Process in Chiang Mai – Lamphun Province and 2) to study Factors that influence the decision to planting potatoes of farmers in San Sai district. Data used in this study were satellite images , Field Survey, Interviews and questionnaires from 31 population samples. For analysis with descriptive Analysis by priority.
Study results showed that Spatial Pattern of Potato Production Process Relationships are associated with potato production process all three steps are planting potatoes , gather and purchase . Found that the distance between the area planted potatoes and purchasing a potato is just short by an average of 4.5 kilometers because maintain product quality ,to make gather possible quickly and easily and Lower transportation costs for farmer. But distance between purchasing a potato and The processing plant is located very far away, with an average distance of 45 kilometers because the reason economic are negotiate lower prices for produce from farmers and easy to distribution of food products to other areas.
Factors that are important to farmers and influential in the decision to plant most potatoes is Physical factors (Soil suitable for planting potatoes, Irrigation system with water quantity are appropriate and sufficient to potato Planting, Condition of the area geography height ramp to the appropriate layer and A large agricultural area enough to plant potatoes). Second factor is the factor characteristics of farmers (Experience our expertise in planting potatoes). Third factors is economic factors (There is a definite market for productivity and Capital resources and agricultural loans). Fourth factors is political factor (Public or private find a market selling produce). And Fifth priority is technology factors ( The use of agricultural machinery and Selection of potato varieties)
