The participant group’s mean pretest score for
knowledge was 87.27%; the posttest mean score was
97.27% ( Figure 1 ). A test of mean differences showed
statistical significance in mean test scores for knowledge
from the pretest to the posttest (T
= 4.06, P = .001).
Further analysis of the participant group’s performance
on the pre- and posttests revealed inference related to
years of experience and educational preparation. For
example, when participants were grouped by years of experience, those with 6 to 15 years of RN experience
were the most affected by the educational session, experiencing
an increase from a pretest mean score of 78.3%
to
a posttest mean score of 96.7%. A test of mean differences
showed statistical significance in mean test scores by the variable of experience from pretest to
posttest (T = 3.38, P = .020). The 2 other participant
groups examined by years of experience—0 to 5 years
and 16 or more years—did not show a statistically significant
increase in knowledge.
