Implementation of the above technology resulted in
production of a party of LCC inserts with SNUN form
(ISO Standard), which have been used for the further
researches.
Choice of the basic properties of the coating and
development of technology for the coating synthesis are
based on the following reasons:
• composition, structure and properties of the coating
are defined by properties of the workpiece material
and the cutting conditions;
• deposited coatings should provide the decrease in
normal contact stresses on the rake face of the tool
and reduction of the thermal stresses concentration on
the cutting edge;
• the level of thermo-mechanical influence on ceramics
during ion cleaning and surface activation during
FCVAD process should provide formation of the
compressive residual stresses, which promotes
healing of ceramic superficial defects, especially in
the form of superficial submicrocracks;
• enhancement of adhesion between the coating and the
ceramic substrate may be provided by a special
transitive layer between them.
According to the established positions was developed
an architecture of the nano-scale multilayer coating. The
