We also wanted to analyze the integration plans of the respondents with respect to
their organization types. Figure 13 provides this information. As can be seen,
retailers are split between integrating RFID technology with their IT infrastructure
or their warehousing application (25 percent) with 17 percent each of retailers
integrating RFID with their overall organizational strategy or their overall IT
strategy. About one-quarter of the manufacturing organization respondents use
RFID as a standalone technology with about another one-qaurter integrating it with
their IT infrastructure and a majority (31 percent) of the manufacturers integrating
RFID with their warehousing application. A majority (32 percent) of the
wholesalers/distributors in our study integrate RFID with their IT infrastructure
and integration with warehousing application following close-by (20 percent).
