The results in Table 8 show that drying rice for about 11.5 h at a conventional oven drying temperature of 130 a C can be adopted as a general standard oven procedure for rough rice moisture content determination, although the subsequent use of equation [7] to account for varying initial sample moisture contents is recommended. Alternately. a rapid moisture
content determination procedure based on the use of equation [7] and higher oven temperatures also proved to be reliable. The results of this study support the hypothesis that apparent moisture contents determined at different drying temperatures and times with an oven procedure over a wide range of moisture levels are related
to the actual moisture contents of rough rice samples.
