Means, standard deviations, and correlations are presented in Table
1. As shown in Table 1, residential location and prosocial behavior were
significantly associated with gender. Men tended to live in more urban
areas and engaged in prosocial behaviors less frequently than women.
Years in the community was also associated with residential location
such that those who live in rural areas are more likely to have lived in
the community more than 10 years. Community cohesion was significantly
positively associated with prosocial behavior, indicating that
those with a stronger sense of community cohesion engaged in more
prosocial behaviors.
