Hearing Dogs are trained to alert their handler to a variety of sounds, including knocking on the door, doorbells, telephones, timers, and smoke alarms. They are trained to indicate to the handler what is causing the sound by physically touching the client with their paw(s).
Hearing dogs are usually smaller breed dogs (under 40 pounds), but occasionally we will train a smaller Labrador or Golden Retriever as a hearing dog if they have a suitable temperament. Hearing dogs cannot be placed in homes where there are other animals.
