Between 1988 and 1990 BabykinsInternational diapers out of Richmond, B.C. entered the market and increased sales from $50 000 to $6 million per year. In 1991 their sales fell to less than $2 million and the company is going out of business. At the beginning of the campaign Canadian retailers took to the concept with considerable vigour, hoping to cash in on the environmental “Green” products revolution. Regrettably, some of the entering brands proved to be less than desirable because of what many perceived to be inferior design and quality. As a negative image was created was created in the market.
