One hundred and eighty consecutive total knee arthroplasties were performed at Orthopedic Department, Phramongkutklao Hospital, Bangkok,Thailand between June 2006 and May 2007 by one surgeon (TC) who had extensive prior experience with both computer-assisted surgery and manual total knee arthroplasty. Of the one hundred and eighty,
ninety-four were performed with manual instruments and eighty-six were performed with computer-assisted surgery. Demographic data were reviewed from the database and patient charts. Preoperative data included preoperative diagnosis, age, gender, and surgical technique. The patient characteristics are shown in Table 1.
