The main findings of our study were the statistically significant
association of the delayed hospital arrival among AMI patients
with a wide range of demographic, social, clinical and proximal
factors. Among the main risk factors, distance of more than
10 km between the patient’s residence and the hospital, absence
of a companion/attendant/escort during the AMI, medical
history of diabetes mellitus, absence of dyspepsia and nausea/
vomiting symptoms during the event were noted as relevant.
These results support previous research data showing that there
is significant pre-hospital delay in patients with AMI.
