A key suspect in the latest lese majeste case failed to appear before the Military Court yesterday after falling ill and being admitted to a Corrections Department hospital on Thursday night.
Suriyan Sucharitpolwong, a well-known fortune teller, known as Mor Yong, complained he had a headache, abdominal pains and dizziness, the department said in a statement yesterday.
Mr Suriyan was taken to hospital on Thursday at 9.30pm, the statement said.
A preliminary examination and x-ray tests showed he was suffering from high blood pressure and a liver problem. He was also agitated and showing signs of depression.
Sukkho: Denied bail by court
His aide, Jirawong Watthanathewasilp, did appear before the military court yesterday which extended the detention of both suspects for another 12 days.
Meanwhile, the Southern Criminal Court yesterday denied bail to Sukkho Tamseri who had links with Pol Maj Prakrom Warunprapa, another lese majeste suspect who hanged himself last week while in detention.
He was arrested after police searched and found a .38 calibre handgun at his house in Bangkok on Oct 23.
Mr Sukkho said he knew Pol Maj Prakrom as a customer at a bar on Rama IX Road where he worked as a manager.
He said the gun found in his house was Pol Maj Prakrom's, but did not know why the officer left the firearm with him.
He said Pol Maj Prakrom had asked him to help in the lese majeste probe against former Central Investigation Bureau chief Pongpat Chayapan, who is now in jail.
Sources say several items seized from Pol Maj Prakrom's home were originally seized from Pol Lt Gen Pongpat's house.
