Phylogenetic trees produced based on maximum parsimony analysis showing the relationship of the yeast strains TB2-1 and TW1-3 and related species from GenBank: Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Kluyveromyces africanus, Pichia spp, Candida inconspicua, Issatchenkia orientalis (synonym: Candida krusei), etc. The trees are based on (A) 18S rDNA se- quences (899 bp) and (B) ITS1 rDNA sequences (369 bp). Branch lengths are proportional to nucleotide differences as indi- cated by the bars. The numbers given at the nodes are the percentage of frequencies with which a branch appeared in 1000 bootstrap replications. The accession numbers are given in brackets.
