We booked 7 nights with Shewe in July, having been attracted by the reviews and photos. Upon arrival our room appeared to be on the 3rd floor, overlooking a fuel station on one side with not much else going on on the opposite side. Not realising that Shewe has rooms located on different levels (I have had 2 broken feet), I asked if we could change rooms avoiding having to walk so many stairs after already pushing them during the day trying to see the sights. That was not a problem. The groundfloor room was ok, not special, no little details, just bland and seemingly a little tired and old. To find plastic flowers in your room in Thailand...better not to have flowers at all. The interior of the room is old and tired, beds itself are very good to sleep in. ground floor rooms are a bit dark. the balconies on each floor overlook other walls with a small "garden" between....I could not say that this property is lush nor green, just that it has some gardening at places. The property shuts down any moodlighting and fountains around 9ish....for which the rain made up for; always fabulous to enjoy when in Thailand, a good generous downpour is greatly appreciated. Breakfast is finished by 10AM, we only made it once, and told that we should be earlier (but, hey: we are on holidays no?)....a small coffee shop is next door that can fill the gap, very friendly people and staff. I would not stay with them again as the "green & lush" is misleading, the food/breakfast nothing extensive or special.....yes, they will prepare your eggs fresh, but if English breakfast isn't your thing, and it isn't mine, you are out of luck. The rooms are spacious but lack ambiance and warmth, it doesn't feel welcome....btw, it is a non smoking hotel and smokers are welcomed to smoke under a small roof in the parking lot, huddled together....if stairs are difficult, this hotel isn't for you either. The location is ok, you still need a tuk tuk to get to the action on the other side of the bridge, we did wait for the evening free transport but managed ourselves. All in all, I look forward to finding a gem in Chiang Mai during a next visit.
