Nang Ruen and Nang Roy knew that the two men were lying to them. They did not look like merchants in any way. Their complexions were not sunburnt and it betrayed them as men who were accustomed to luxuries. The two ladies then demanded that if they were indeed merchants, where were their goods, as the ladies would like to see them. This forced the two men to confess at last, confiding that they had come with the Prince of Muang Suong, who had come to seek out the two princesses.
The two women asked to accompany the two men to pay respect to the Prince of Muang Suong, who was hiding in the garden. The two women thought of a way to bring the two princesses to Phra Law and asked the prince to wait there.
When the princesses heard that Phra Law was hiding in their own garden they yearned to come out, but as young girls they were under strict surveillance by their grand aunt, the Dowager Princess of Muang Sorng, whose husband had been killed in battle by Phra Law's father. The two princesses went to see the grand aunt, and while giving her a loving massage, asked her for permission to go for a walk in the royal garden
"You know, auntie, just eating, sitting and sleeping in the palace without any exercise is unhealthy! Our heads are dull and we long for fresh air and a chance to stretch our legs!" they pleaded.
