There was a negligible short-term or acute risk with the exposure to the monitor ed pesticides via nuts consumption. However, the chronic risk significantly exceeded the short term risk, and the estimated long-term risk of chronic exposure via nuts consumption was highest for Aldrin and dieldrin. The cumulative risk was highest for PYs and OPs. From public health point of view, the observed levels of pesticide residues in nuts do not pose a serious health risk to the consumers, but the pesticide contamination in pinenut might give cause for concern.
