Twelve Steps for Selecting and Adjusting Programmable Hearing Aids
Programmable hearing aids are easier to select and adjust than non-programmable aids, because of assistance provided to the clinician by the programming computer, and because the response of the hearing aids can easily be changed after performance has been measured on the individual patient. Figure 10.1 shows an overview of the twelve steps involved in the selection and adjustment process, prior to ascertaining the patient’s opinion of sound quality. These steps are described in the following paragraphs. We will assume that the fitting tool is NOAH-sed software on a personal computer (see section 3.3.1). The steps are similar if a medicated programming device from a single manufacturer is used.
