concentration of the running buffer increased from 5 mM to
40 mM. Especially when the concentration of the running buffer
was 30 mM and 40 mM, the resolution between DBP and BBP
was 1.48 and 1.29. Finally, considering rapid analysis of PAEs with
an appropriate resolution, the concentration of running buffer was
chosen as 5 mM.
3.3. Effect of working temperature
Working temperature could also affects analysis speed in EKC.
High temperature could decrease the viscosity of the running buffer and shorten analysis time. In the present work, the effect
of working temperature from 15 C to 35C were investigated.
The analysis times were decreased significantly with the increase
of working temperature, from 30 min at 15 C to 20 min at 35 C.
On the other hand, the resolution between DBP and BBP was
2.95 in 15 C, 2.22 in 20 C, 1.68 in 25 C, 1.35 in 30 C and 0.97
in 35 C. It meant that the resolution became worse with the
increase of temperature. Considering rapid analysis of PAEs with
an appropriate resolution and slow volatilization of solvents, a
temperature of 25 C was selected as the optimum electrophoretic
temperature.
3.4. Reproducibility, linearity, detection limit
The reproducibility was estimated by making repetitive and
consecutive injections of the mixed standard solution (10 mg/L
for each PAE) for 7 times under the optimum conditions. The relative
standard derivations (RSDs) of the migration time and the
peak area were listed in Table 1. The all RSDs of migration times
were less than 1.0%, and RSDs of peak areas less than 3.3%, which
means the practicability of the running buffer.
To determine the linearity of PAEs, a series of standard mixture
solutions were tested. The linearity of the PAEs were from 2 to
