Additionally, FA values expressed as mg n−3 FA per 100 g
subcutaneous fat were calculated to verify if the subcutaneous fat
from cows fed the four diets achieved the regulatory label claim status
for meat products in Canada (≥300 mg omega-3 per 100 g serving;
CFIA, 2003). The n−3 FA content of the subcutaneous fat was 2× (i.e.
600 mg per 100 g−1 fat) that required for a label claim and thus
would be suitable for producing meat products such as sausages and
ground beef that satisfy the source claim.
