4. Treatment
Treatment regimes reported in the literature have varied widely depending on the extent of the disease being reported, the general health of the cornea, and the personal experience of the physician. In the original case report by Naginton et al. [1], numerous topical antimicrobial preparations were tried in conjunction with steroids, but both eyes eventually required grafting. Recent years have brought us knowledge of more specific antimicrobials, although the failsafe remains the surgical grafting of the cornea.
