Hi, my name's Mel and I live in Italy; my partner's name is Johnny, he lives in #Canada and we're both 17.
We got to know each other last year, through a French correspondence project started by our schools.
We started talking on #Facebook and texting every day. Soon we realized that we became good friends and that we needed each other every day more: we noticed that our feelings got stronger for each other and we decided to try. We met after eight months, he came in Italy for two weeks (Christmas time): it was the best holiday for both of us. After that he made me a surprise and he came for the second time in March. We knew that we're meant to be: we can deal with the distance, because we're strong. Our feelings are real, not jokes and we mean to stay together 'til the end. He asked me if I could go to Canada this summer, but I couldn't because I need a visa and I couldn't get it. So he worked to buy a ticket and came in Italy again, for three weeks! I felt so lucky and happy. But I felt happier when he proposed: I was kind of expecting it, because we talk about our future together a lot, but it was special and surprising anyways!
He left a few days ago and I feel him more mine now; it's really a beautiful feeling. This time I'll try to get my visa and I hope I'll visit him this Christmas. I'm also planning to move there as soon as I finish my high school (just two more years) and we'll finally be able to live together.
This relationship made us grow and become more mature, learning life and relationship values; we're really lucky to have each other and to get to grow up together.
I hope that couples in our situation won't give up, because even it's hurts, it's worth it and I believe that it leaves a good life lesson and much pride about ourselves at the end. Mel
